In a story that one family member is describing as "a miracle," a woman who suffered a brain aneurysm and was declared brain dead several weeks ago delivered twin boys by C-section this weekend. Michigan's 24 Hour News 8 says that 26-year-old Christine Bolden was declared brain dead on March 6 after suffering a sudden intense pain and collapsing.
Danielle Bolden described what it was like to see her young, once vibrant niece, Christine, lying in a hospital bed as if she were asleep. "It's hard," said Danielle. "Real hard." She said the family started to grieve while simultaneously hoping that her unborn twins would somehow survive.
Last Friday Christine's grandmother Donetta Bolden told 24 Hour News 8 that Christine's blood pressure was just too high, and it was time to try to save the babies.
After only 25 weeks, Alexander and Nicholas entered the world. Danielle said that Nicholas weighed only 1 pound 9 ounces, and Alexander weighed 1 pound 5 ounces; each of them was only about 6 inches long.
"God, he could have took her and the boys," said Danielle. "But he left the boys. That's a miracle.
